To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the iconic James Bond film, "Goldfinger," Rolls-Royce has created a stunning one-off Phantom inspired by Auric Goldfinger's legendary yellow Phantom III. This bespoke creation pays homage to the classic film with a myriad of unique details and references.
The new Phantom, a long-wheelbase Extended model, is painted in a striking shade of yellow that closely resembles the original car's distinctive hue. The contrast between the yellow body and the black roof and hood is a nod to the classic car's design. The wheels, adorned with black and silver accents, further enhance the retro aesthetic. The iconic Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, a symbol of Rolls-Royce, is plated in 18-carat gold, adding a touch of luxury and exclusivity.
However, it's the interior of this special Phantom that truly captures the essence of Goldfinger's opulent lifestyle. A highlight is the illuminated 18-carat gold bar, hidden within a secret compartment in the center console. The gold theme continues with the interior storage boxes and glovebox, the latter bearing a quote from Goldfinger himself about his love for gold. The door sills are designed to resemble gold bars, and the vehicle identification number (VIN) plate, ending in 007, is crafted from 24-carat gold.
Other subtle references to the film include a map of Fort Knox, inlaid in 22-carat gold, on the picnic tables, and a hand-drawn map of the Furka Pass on the dashboard. The starlight headliner replicates the night sky as it appeared on the final day of filming at the Furka Pass in 1964.
To complete the homage, Rolls-Royce has secured the iconic "AU1" registration plate, a reference to the chemical symbol for gold, which was used on the original film car. While the exact price of this one-off creation remains undisclosed, it has already been delivered to a discerning collector in the UK.
This extraordinary Phantom serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of James Bond and the timeless elegance of Rolls-Royce.
