Royal Enfield has officially introduced its much-anticipated Classic 650 Twin, the latest addition to its lineup that now houses the popular 648cc engine, already adored by fans for its power and smooth performance. This new model showcases styling that pays homage to the company’s iconic Classic 350, the brand’s bestselling model, bringing a touch of nostalgia to a higher-capacity bike.
The Classic 650 Twin is available in four distinct colors: Vallam Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue, Teal, and Black Chrome. Royal Enfield enthusiasts may recognize that Teal and Black Chrome were previously offered on the original UCE Classic models, and their reappearance here adds a nostalgic touch that connects the new bike with the brand’s heritage. The bike shares several components with the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, including the primary frame, brakes, twin shock absorbers, and swingarm, making the two bikes quite similar in build. However, the Classic 650 Twin features a few unique elements that set it apart, such as its 19/18-inch wire-spoke wheels and a 43mm telescopic fork. This model rides on MRF Nylohigh tires, with the front tire measuring 100/90-19 and the rear tire sized at 140/70-R18. The seat height is positioned at a comfortable 800mm, and the bike has a ground clearance of 154mm, allowing it to tackle various road conditions smoothly.
The Classic 650 also includes the same digi-analogue display as the smaller Classic model, with the added benefit of a gear position indicator. Additionally, Royal Enfield has equipped the bike with the Tripper navigation pod as standard, and riders will appreciate the adjustable brake and clutch levers straight from the factory. These features aim to enhance the rider experience, providing both comfort and convenience on long rides.
Under the hood, the Classic 650 Twin uses the tried-and-true 648cc, parallel-twin engine that delivers 47 horsepower at 7,250 rpm and a torque of 52.3 Nm at 5,650 rpm. Similar to the other Royal Enfield 650 models, it includes a six-speed gearbox equipped with a slip-and-assist clutch, making gear transitions smooth and user-friendly. The internal ratios and final drive gearing on the Classic 650 are also identical to those found on the Shotgun 650. Weighing in at 243 kg, the Classic 650 Twin stands as the heaviest model in Royal Enfield’s current lineup. It also has the largest fuel tank among the RE 650 models, with a capacity of 14.8 liters. In terms of suspension, it matches the Shotgun 650, offering 120mm of travel at the front and 90mm at the rear, ensuring a balanced and controlled ride.
Royal Enfield plans to launch the Classic 650 Twin in India in February 2025, marking its entry into the growing mid-capacity segment.
