Every iteration within the i30 lineup – including the hatch, fastback, and wagon models – receives a subtle refresh, albeit minor in scale. This marks the model's second facelift since its introduction in 2016, introducing a revamped radiator grille pattern and reshaped front bumper with new foglamp housings.

Additional enhancements include updated 16-inch wheels, standard LED lighting, and the introduction of seven fresh colors out of the total 12 available options. Hatchbacks and wagons further benefit from a chrome insert integrated into a more angular rear bumper design.

Interior improvements maintain a discreet profile, though existing i30 owners may notice the introduction of three new upholstery designs and the inclusion of a standard 4.2-inch color digital LCD instrument cluster. However, the modest size of the display might raise eyebrows, evoking a sense of outdated technology reminiscent of the late 2000s. Moreover, Hyundai's decision to coat the console in scratch-prone and fingerprint-attracting piano black finish, contrary to prevailing industry trends, may raise concerns among prospective buyers.

Fortunately, the diminutive digital display can be upgraded to a more contemporary 10.25-inch unit. Modern conveniences include USB-C ports positioned in both the front and rear, over-air map updates, and an array of driver assistance technologies. Standard safety features encompass forward collision avoidance, while buyers have the option to further enhance safety with features like Junction Turning intersection traffic monitoring and Highway Driving Assistant, which maintains a safe distance from preceding vehicles.

Although the i30 N hot hatch has been discontinued prior to the announcement of the i30 facelift, customers seeking a similar aesthetic can opt for the N Line trim, which introduces a sporty body kit, dark metal bumper accents, new side skirts, and a choice between 17- or 18-inch wheels. Interior appointments include leather and suede upholstery with red stitching, enhancing the overall sporty ambiance.

Regrettably, while the exterior enhancements exude athleticism, performance remains modest. With the departure of the potent 276 horsepower N variant, engine options are now confined to 1.0-liter three-cylinder and 1.5-liter four-cylinder powertrains, both featuring 48-volt mild hybrid assistance and delivering 118 horsepower and 157 horsepower, respectively.

Despite the subdued performance, European buyers will still have the option to choose between manual and dual-clutch transmissions when the facelifted models commence production at Hyundai's Czech Republic plant next month.
