Shelby American Elevates the F-150 Raptor to New Heights

In an industry increasingly focused on electric vehicles and hybrids, Ford surprised many with the introduction of its insane F-150 Raptor pickup truck. However, Shelby American has now outdone even Ford with its latest creation: the F-150 Baja Raptor.

Shelby has been modifying F-150 Raptors since 2013 and has expanded its offerings to include both V6 and V8-powered versions of the new Baja Raptor model. These packages significantly enhance the standard F-150 Raptor and Raptor-R with performance upgrades and styling changes, though they come with a hefty price tag. The Baja package for the regular F-150 Raptor costs $61,995, while Raptor R owners can expect to pay $64,995 for the upgrades.

To improve the pickup's off-road capabilities, Shelby has installed a suspension lift kit and added 18-inch flow forged wheels with 37-inch mud terrain tires. The exterior also receives a makeover with a bespoke hood, new intakes and extraction vents, custom running boards, a new grille, and revised front and rear steel bumpers. Perhaps the most striking addition is the custom steel chase rack in the bed, which includes a power-actuated 50-inch LED light bar and full-size spare wheel mounts.

Shelby has also tuned the powertrains of both the standard Raptor and the Raptor R. Models equipped with the regular 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 receive a new heat shield, high-performance intake, and an aluminum intercooler, resulting in a boost to 550 horsepower. Owners of the Raptor R can opt for a new 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger, which takes power output to an impressive 900 horsepower.

Inside, the seats have been re-trimmed in a combination of black and red leather with special embroidery on the headrests. Shelby also adds billet racing pedals and a serialized dash plaque.

All of Shelby's Baja Raptor packages include a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty.
