The Subaru Forester crossover lineup now includes an STI Sport trim level for the Japanese market. The 1.8-liter turbocharged boxer four found in the Forester Sport is what the STI uses instead of the 2.0-liter e-Boxer hybrid powertrain available in the majority of Japanese Foresters. Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive system receives 174 horsepower and 300 Nm from the engine through a required CVT transmission.
Subaru claims that the STI Sport's STI-tuned dampers were created to offer the SUV the steering stability of a sports sedan.
The new STi's exterior features include black 18-inch alloy wheels, black door mirrors, front fog light surrounds with black trim, black side cladding, and a black roof spoiler. Additionally, you get STI emblems on the front and rear, but not the angry hood scoop that was installed on the final actual STI.
Inside, you'll discover black Nappa leather seats with Bordeaux trim and red stitching, a black headliner and door pillar trim, STI Sport gauges, a piano black dash panel, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a shift knob.
Subaru has not affirmed whether the STI Sport trim would leave Japan and find homes in North America or Europe. In Japan, the STI Sport is priced from $26,575 upwards.
