Ford has finally unveiled the official performance figures for the highly anticipated Mustang GTD, confirming its status as the most powerful production Mustang ever created. Equipped with a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, the GTD delivers an impressive 815 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque, firmly placing it in supercar territory.

The V8 engine, capable of reaching 7,650 rpm, benefits from a series of performance upgrades, including a dry-sump oil system, a revised intake and exhaust, a smaller supercharger pulley, and a titanium exhaust system. This combination of enhancements enables the GTD to achieve a top speed of 325 km/h, thanks in part to its Drag Reduction System and active aerodynamics. While this sets a new top speed record for the Mustang lineup, it falls slightly short of the GT supercar's 348 km/h.
To achieve its sub-7-minute lap time at the Nurburgring, the Mustang GTD features an extensive array of performance enhancements. These include a custom wide bodykit for improved aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes for superior stopping power, and a motorsport-inspired chassis setup with an inboard rear suspension and semi-active dampers. Together, these enhancements contribute to exceptional handling and stability at high speeds.
For those seeking even more aerodynamic efficiency and weight reduction, the optional Performance Pack offers additional features such as magnesium 20-inch wheels. However, this pack comes at an extra cost, as it is not included in the base price of $325,000.
Greg Goodall, the Chief Program Engineer for the Mustang GTD, emphasized the car's ambitious goals, stating that they aimed to create a supercar with world-class performance while retaining the soul of a Mustang. The GTD's supercharged V8 engine boasts a specific output of 156.7 horsepower per liter, surpassing the Porsche 911 GT3 RS's 129.6 horsepower per liter. It's worth noting that while Ford's V8 achieves its power figures through forced induction, Porsche's 518 hp boxer engine relies on naturally aspirated performance.
