Although a new generation of the Suzuki Baleno was unveiled in India this year, the vehicle will no longer be sold there because Suzuki has decided to end production there. In the upcoming months, the 2022 Suzuki Baleno will make its way to Australian showrooms with a Shadow special edition. Suzuki has unveiled the new Shadow special edition as a fitting tribute and farewell to its tiny hatchback. The limited edition model has a darker aesthetic and a higher price.
A number of black cosmetic modifications are added to the Baleno Shadow, such as a body kit, a black grille, black decals on the doors, a Shadow insignia on the rear, and 16-inch black alloy wheels.
Because the Baleno Shadow lacks the GLX's modern LED headlights in favor of the GL's base-spec halogen lamps, the Shadow limited edition is not a full-specs trim. Additionally, because it only has manual A/C, it lacks the GLX's automatic climate control. At least the 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a rearview camera, and a six-speaker audio system are included as standard equipment.
A four-speed automatic transmission is optional for the base GL but standard on higher grades. Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 1.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 91 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque and drives the front wheels.
Suzuki predicts that the manual will use 5.1 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers of mixed driving while the automatic would use 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers.
Although the Baleno comes with six airbags and the fundamental safety features of anti-lock brakes and traction/stability control, it is devoid of any kind of cutting-edge safety technology.
With a price of $26,890 AUD, the Baleno Shadow, which will only be sold in 300 units in Australia, is $6,900 AUD more expensive than the base-model GL and $3,400 AUD more expensive than the top-tier GLX.
