Tata Motors has finally pulled the wraps off the production version of the Curvv, a sleek and stylish coupe-SUV that's set to hit the market in August 2024. Remember the Curvv concept that wowed us back in April 2022? Well, this is pretty much its identical twin, with just a few minor tweaks to make it ready for real-world driving.

Tata Curvv

The most striking feature of the Curvv is undoubtedly its sporty silhouette. That sloping roofline screams "head-turner" and is sure to make you stand out on the road. But Tata hasn't forgotten about practicality – the Curvv still maintains that SUV functionality you need. Here's where the subtle changes come in. The full-LED headlights have been redesigned for a slightly more polished look, and the grille has been tweaked to better match the design language of other Tata models. They've also swapped out the futuristic concept car mirrors for conventional ones, opted for slightly smaller wheels for everyday driving, and toned down the rear spoiler for a more balanced appearance. But worry not, those cool flush door handles haven't gone anywhere!

Now, let's talk about what separates the electric Curvv from its gas-guzzling counterpart. The electric version ditches the traditional grille altogether, opting for a cleaner, smoother look. It also boasts a conveniently placed charging port nestled in the bumper, along with subtle EV badges to proudly announce its eco-friendly nature. Interestingly, the body panels on both models seem identical, except for the wheels – the EV gets a special set designed to improve its aerodynamic efficiency, helping it travel further on a single charge.

While Tata has yet to release images of the Curvv's interior, reports from Autocar India, who previewed the vehicle through virtual reality headsets, suggest that the dashboard is largely borrowed from the Tata Nexon. This includes a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and touch-sensitive controls. Buyers of the Curvv will have the option to customize their interiors with various colors and finishes.

The Curvv is built on Tata's Gen 2 architecture and is expected to share its powertrain options with the Nexon subcompact SUV. Although Tata has not provided specific details, it is anticipated that the ICE version of the Curvv will be available with a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, and potentially a 1.5-liter diesel engine later on. The electric version, on the other hand, is rumored to offer two battery options, with a maximum range of up to 500 kilometers.

The official technical specifications and pricing for the Indian market are still under wraps, but local media outlet Car Dekho predicts a starting price of around Rs 12,550 for the ICE-powered Curvv and Rs 23,905 for the Curvv EV. We'll have to wait until the official launch on August 7th to get all the juicy details. But one thing's for sure – the Tata Curvv is shaping up to be a compelling option for Indian car buyers seeking a stylish, feature-packed, and versatile SUV with both electric and gas options.
