Winnebago, a pioneer in RV manufacturing, has been at the forefront of the van life and overlanding trends. In 2017, they introduced the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4-based Revel, a popular choice among adventure enthusiasts. However, the price of the Revel has significantly increased over the years, reaching over $254,000 for the 2025 model.
To address this, Winnebago has introduced the 2025 Revel Sport, a more affordable version of the original Revel. While the Sport shares many similarities with its predecessor, it offers a lighter build and more flexible options for buyers.
Both the Revel Sport 44N and the standard 44E are built on a 5.9-meter Mercedes-Benz Sprinter AWD 144 chassis, powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission. They come equipped with advanced driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. Additionally, buyers can opt for BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires for enhanced off-road capability.
The standard Revel 44E boasts impressive off-grid capabilities, thanks to its 8.4-kWh lithium-ion battery system and 3,600-W inverter, allowing for up to a week of self-sufficiency. In contrast, the Revel Sport utilizes a smaller 4.1-kWh battery system and a 2,000-W inverter, paired with 215 watts of solar power. While this configuration offers ample power for shorter trips, it falls short of the extended autonomy provided by the standard Revel.
The fresh water capacity of the Revel Sport is also reduced to 91 liters, compared to the 132.5 liters of the standard Revel. However, the gray water tank capacity remains the same at 79.5 liters.
The interior layout of the Revel Sport 44N is similar to the previous Revel models. It features a power-lifting rear bed that can be stored away to create a spacious gear garage. The kitchen area includes a stainless steel sink, portable induction cooker, and a 85-liter fridge/freezer. The front lounge offers a two-seat bench, removable table, and swiveling cab seats.
While the Revel Sport shares many features with its predecessor, it lacks some of the upgrades found in the 2025 Revel 44E, such as the WinnSleep suspension sleep system and the taller, separable rear seats. Additionally, the Sport retains older features like the low-back rear bench, oval dining table, and removable kitchen counter extension.
Overall, the 2025 Revel Sport offers a more affordable option for those seeking the adventure and versatility of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based RV. While it may not have the same level of off-grid capability as the standard Revel, it still provides a comfortable and well-equipped platform for exploring the outdoors.
