Jeep has given us our first glimpse at the new Commander, which will be sold in South American countries. The Jeep Commander Overland is the new Commander shown in the promotional video. The Commander's styling is similar to that of the newly facelifted Compass, although it has a new face with headlamp extensions, a slightly different grille, and a redesigned bumper with lower-positioned air intakes and DRLs.
The longer wheelbase, horizontal window line, and dual-tone treatment are all reminiscent of the 2022 Grand Cherokee. The thin taillights on the back are identical to those on the 2021 Grand Cherokee L, although they are positioned higher and merge with a chrome bar.
The dashboard is shared with the Compass, including the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and the 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, but the Commander will most likely have various trim options, like the shown brown leather with bronze stitching and detailing. The three-row 7-seat layout will be different, with greater space for passengers and a larger cargo area when the third row is folded.
We anticipate that the engine lineup will be shared with the Compass. That implies it may be equipped with a 1.3-liter TurboFlex petrol engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission and a 2.0-liter MultiJet turbodiesel mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Power will be sent to either the front or all four wheels.
The Jeep Commander 2022 will be manufactured in Stellantis' Pernambuco plant in Brazil. The new Commander is unrelated to the Grand Commander marketed in China and is built on the same platform as the Compass.
