The 2023 Toyota GR Supra has been revealed, and it comes with a new six-speed manual transmission that was developed specifically for the car's turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 382 horsepower and 497 Nm of torque.
The improvements don't stop there: the manual Supra has a reduced final drive ratio to prevent "sluggish take-off and low in-gear acceleration sensation." Performance-oriented software is also included in the gearbox, which maximizes engine torque at clutch engagement and release when upshifting. In Sport mode, the software can also be turned off.
The manual transmission's traction control, stability control, and anti-roll systems have also been re-calibrated.
Hairpin+ is a new feature that aims to make driving on curvy back roads more thrilling.
Toyota will release an A91-MT Edition to commemorate the reintroduction of the manual transmission, which will be available only with the DIY gearbox. 500 cars will arrive in the United States, each with a special Matte White or CU Later Gray bodywork with red highlights and Frozen Gunmetal Gray 19-inch forged wheels.
Exclusive Cognac leather seats and an Alcantara-wrapped shifter with GR badging round out the unique version. Red strut tower bracing and a 12-speaker JBL premium audio system are further features.
Some more upgrades are also included in the 2023 GR Supra. The color palette has been refreshed, and versions with the 3.0-liter engine feature a retuned suspension and reworked shock absorbers.
New 19-inch forged aluminum wheels are available on the 3.0 model. In addition, the GR Supra 3.0 Premium, like the A91-MT Edition, comes with a new 12-speaker JBL premium audio system.
The 2023 GR Supra will be available in U.S. dealerships later this year, with manual variant pricing to be released later this summer.
