The Nissan Altima's future appears uncertain as reports suggest it may not be around much longer due to declining sales. In response, Nissan is streamlining the model for 2025, focusing on a simplified lineup and adding new features to appeal to buyers. One of the key updates for 2025 is the introduction of the SV Special Edition package, priced at $1,090. This package enhances the Altima’s exterior with body-color mirrors, a rear spoiler, a moonroof, and 17-inch alloy wheels with a glossy black finish. The interior also sees several upgrades, including a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Additional features include faux carbon fiber trim, illuminated sill plates, and a remote start function, making this package a comprehensive upgrade for those looking to enhance their Altima experience.
The 2025 Altima SR also receives a notable update with the option to add 19-inch bronze wheels for $670, adding a touch of style and distinction to the model. However, the most significant change for the 2025 Altima lineup is the discontinuation of the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine, which previously offered 248 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, will no longer be available. Instead, the 2025 Altima will be powered exclusively by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces up to 188 horsepower and 244 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT), and buyers can opt for an all-wheel drive system on most trims for an additional $1,500.
In addition to these changes, the base model Altima S now comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment system, replacing the previous 7-inch display. Interestingly, Nissan did not highlight this upgrade in their announcements, despite it being a noticeable improvement for the entry-level model.
As for pricing, the 2025 Nissan Altima starts at $27,000, which is a $630 increase over the previous model year. While the price hike may seem modest, Nissan has sweetened the deal with a new maintenance program that includes up to three scheduled oil changes, providing added value for buyers.
