The Volkswagen Tiguan, a top-selling vehicle in the U.S., is set to undergo a complete redesign for the 2025 model year. This refreshed Tiguan will be built on the MQB evo platform and powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 201 horsepower. While this represents a modest 17 horsepower increase, a significant weight reduction of around 77 kilograms, achieved through the use of high-strength steel and aluminum suspension components, promises improved acceleration and fuel economy.
Visually, the 2025 Tiguan bears a striking resemblance to its European counterpart, the Tayron. It boasts a modern and expressive design, particularly in R-Line trim. Key exterior features include slimmer headlights that can be connected by an optional LED light bar or an illuminated VW logo, a curvaceous body, and 17- to 20-inch wheels. The rear end echoes the Tayron's design with a slender light bar and a familiar bumper, although North American models will feature vertical reflectors instead of horizontal ones.
Unlike the European Tayron, the North American Tiguan will be exclusively a five-seater. The interior has been completely overhauled, featuring a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment system, with an optional upgrade to a 15-inch display. The traditional center stack has been eliminated, and the shifter has been relocated to the steering column, freeing up space for a multi-function rotary control dial with an integrated display. Standard features include a wireless smartphone charger and automatic climate control.
Higher-end trims will offer additional luxuries such as quilted leather seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, a heated steering wheel, a heated second-row, American walnut wood trim, a tri-zone climate control system, a head-up display, a 30-color ambient lighting system, and a premium Harman Kardon audio system.
While specific pricing details have yet to be announced, it's anticipated that the 2025 Tiguan will command a slightly higher price tag, potentially starting around $30,000.
