Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has introduced a new truck for the U.S market called Western Star 49X. The 49X is a heavy-duty vocational truck with new technical specifications and it is safer, more powerful, and more efficient than before.
Western Star 49X uses a 14.8-liter six-cylinder DD15 Gen 5 heavy-duty engine build by Detroit Diesel that pumps out 505 hp and 2,505 nm of torque. Buyers can optionally order X12 and X12 engines by Cummins. All engines are available with DT12-V or DT12-VX automated manual transmissions. Other highlights about Western Star 49X are side guard assist, active brake assist, and adaptive cruise control.
The Western Star 49X is 150 kg and its structure has a better strength rating for greater durability. The 49X will be available for order from this winter and costumers will get their orders by early 2021.
