To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the iconic RS4, Audi is releasing a special edition version of the current RS4 Avant before it's replaced by the upcoming RS 5 Avant. Limited to just 250 units and exclusive to European markets, the Audi RS4 Avant Edition 25 Years boasts a more powerful engine, a sharper chassis setup, and a host of unique aesthetic touches.
The beating heart of this anniversary special is a tuned version of the familiar 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. Thanks to software tweaks, it now produces a healthy 464 horsepower, a 20 hp increase over the standard model. While this falls short of the rivaling BMW M3 Touring's output, torque remains impressive at 600 Nm. This translates to a blistering 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h, further solidifying the RS4's performance pedigree.
The power upgrade isn't the only area where the Edition 25 shines. Audi has equipped it with a driver-focused suspension setup for enhanced handling. This includes manually adjustable coilovers that allow drivers to lower the ride height by 10 mm or 20 mm for a more aggressive stance. This suspension system builds upon the one found in the Competition package, but with additional refinements. Audi Sport engineers have dialed things up further by increasing the negative camber on the front axle for improved cornering grip, along with stiffer control arms and a more secure rear subframe for enhanced stability.
Gripping power comes courtesy of high-performance Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires wrapped around 20-inch forged wheels borrowed from the RS4 Avant Competition. To truly unleash the car's potential on the track, Audi throws in a second set of exclusive 20-inch matte black wheels shod in ultra-sticky P Zero Trofeo RS semi-slick rubber. Standard RS ceramic brakes ensure confident stopping power, while the RS sport exhaust system with its matte black oval tailpipes adds aural excitement.
Visually, the Edition 25 is a head-turner. The striking Imola Yellow paint job pays homage to the original RS4, but for those seeking a more subtle option, Nardo Gray or Mythos Black are also available. Glossy black accents, the absence of roof rails, and a unique black inlay within the taillights further differentiate this special edition. Carbon fiber touches courtesy of the Carbon matte appearance package add a touch of motorsport-inspired flair to the bodykit, while a discreet "RS4 edition 25 years" lettering adorns the rear side windows.
The celebratory theme continues inside the cabin. A numbered plaque on the center console and yellow stitching throughout the interior create a sense of exclusivity. Black upholstery featuring a combination of leather, Dinamica, and Alcantara provides a luxurious feel, while the standard RS bucket seats with carbon fiber backs offer exceptional support. Drivers can further personalize their experience with optional suede wrapping for the flat-bottom steering wheel and gearshift lever. A new digital instrument cluster skin that mimics the white analog dials of the original RS4 adds a nostalgic touch.
This isn't the only limited-edition Audi Sport model to celebrate an anniversary. Alongside the RS4 Avant Edition 25, Audi also announced the RS5 Sportback Performance Edition. This model benefits from similar upgrades to the powertrain and chassis and will also be limited to 250 units for the European market.
Both the RS4 Avant Edition 25 and the RS5 Sportback Performance Edition will be available for order starting in June 2024. Prices start at a hefty €142,905 ($155,437) for the RS4 and €128,420 ($139,682) for the RS5. For those who truly want to commemorate the occasion, Audi even offers a matching chronograph featuring a carbon dial and yellow details, perfectly complementing the limited-edition RS4 Avant.
