Chery has introduced a new pickup truck concept that could potentially make its way to global markets as early as next year. While details about the concept remain limited, its unveiling has sparked interest, particularly in regions where affordable midsize trucks are in high demand.
The Chery KP11 prototype made its debut at the 2024 Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, China. Surprisingly, the brand chose not to promote the concept through its usual social media channels, keeping the reveal low-key. This unconventional approach is unusual in today's digital-first era, especially for a model with such global potential.
Photos shared by various outlets, including AutoIndustriya, offer a closer look at the Chery KP11. Although the prototype lacks an interior and mechanical components, the exterior design appears nearly production-ready.
The KP11 features a bold and modern design, with oversized grille featuring prominent "CHERY" lettering, split LED headlights, and a rugged bumper with an aluminum-style skid plate. The side profile showcases chunky fenders, boxy wheel arches, rugged all-terrain tires, and a generous amount of ground clearance. The overall aesthetic seems to draw inspiration from models like the Ford Ranger Raptor, particularly in terms of color choices and design elements.
The rear of the KP11 also exhibits a strong resemblance to the Ford Ranger Raptor, with similar LED taillights and a large "CHERY" emblem stamped into the tailgate. To emphasize its adventurous nature, the prototype is equipped with camping accessories such as a bed rack and a rooftop tent.
Chery has indicated that the KP11 will be offered with a range of powertrain options, including a turbocharged 2.4-liter gasoline engine, plug-in hybrid, and range-extender setups. Interestingly, diesel power is not being considered for this model.
Chinese media reports suggest that the global debut of the Chery pickup could take place sometime next year. The model is expected to be launched in Asia-Pacific, South American, and European markets, but North America is not currently on the list. However, the KP11 has been confirmed for the Australian market, adding to the growing competition in that region.
