Dongfeng Fengxing T5 Review

Overview

Dongfeng Fengxing T5 is a small CUV manufactured by Dongfeng that has been on the market since 2018. It made its formal debut as a prototype at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show in April 2018, with the production version meeting China's National Level V Emission standard expected to be ready in the third quarter of 2018.

The 2020 Dongfeng Fengxing T5 comes in ten different configurations, with two displacements of 1.5T and 1.6L and two gears for manual and manual transmission.

It is presently for sale at a reasonable price of 69,900.00 RMB.

Interior

The interior's focal point is the massive vertical 12inch central console display and the LCD instrument panel, both of which have been carried over from the current model.

Design

Dongfeng Fengxing T5 is a modern family hauler with dimensions of 4460mm long, 1820mm wide, 1720mm height, and a wheelbase of 2720 mm.

Dongfeng followed the rear lightbar trend, so the overall appearance looks decent for a tiny crossover. The front lights are connected by a large grille. There is a C-shaped portion on the headlights that reminds me of Renault automobiles in certain ways.

17-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped by 215/60 R17 tires offer a modern look and their size is good compared to the whole size of the car.

Specs

Dongfeng Fengxing T5 has three engine choices in terms of power. The first is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 156 horsepower at 5000rpm and 230 Newton-meters of torque. This engine is linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front axle.

The alternative engine is a 1.6L naturally aspirated engine with 122 horsepower and 151 Newton-meters of torque. The 1.6L engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both engines are compliant with China-VI emission regulations. Because the Dongfeng Fengxing T5 does not have an AWD option, offroading is out of the question.

The automaker recently added a new 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing 204 hp and 280 Nm of torque.

Verdict

With the fast expansion of the Chery Tiggo 8 and Jetour brand models, the entry-level mid-size SUV industry still offers enormous commercial prospects in China, and more and more Chinese vehicle makers have begun to enter the market, including Dongfeng Motor, a traditional Chinese manufacturer. With China's increasingly severe emission policies, Dongfeng Fengxing T5 produced its mid-generation 2020 model in less than a year. Dongfeng Fengxing T5 is an affordable small crossover that may appeal to a diverse variety of customers in regions such as Russia, China, and Iran.
