The 2.0L I4 turbo and the 3.6L V6 are also offered with an extra magic in Chrysler lineups. The eTorque Mild Hybrid System is a now technology that Chrysler offered back in 2018 Detroit Motor Show. This system uses a 48-Volt motor/generator instead of the conventional alternator along with a 430 watt-hour lithium-ion Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC)-Graphite battery.
Besides charging the standard 12-volt car battery, this system is capable to give the engine the ability to turn on and off as an Engine Start/Stop option without being noticed. The system is also capable of regenerate electricity to recharge the small battery pack from brake system while braking.
Bu the most important role of the eTorque Mild Hybrid System is to give away a considerable amount of extra torque to the crankshaft when needed under load of towing startups, heavy launches or rock crawling while reducing emissions and fuel consumption. The system is also available on the performance based 5.7L HEMI V8.
The eTorque Mild Hybrid System and add up to 90 lb.ft of torque to the Pentastar V6 and up to 130 lb.ft to the 5.7L HEMI V8 which increases towing capacity by a great margin that made Ram 1500 pickup truck series to be capable of the Best in Class Towing capability of 12750 pounds which is astonishing for a 1500 Ram series.
