2023 Suzuki Grand Vitara MHEV Revealed In India

Author: |

In India, Suzuki unveiled the brand-new Grand Vitara. The new Grand Vitara is a twin model to the newly unveiled Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and is available in mild hybrid and self-charging hybrid configurations.

The Grand Vitara has dimensions of 4,345 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, and 1,645 mm in height, with a 2,600 mm wheelbase. The Suzuki S-Cross shares the same wheelbase.

The Suzuki is substantially larger in size and has a grille with a Dark Chrome or Rich Chrome finish, a smaller lower bumper intake, and more aggressive main headlight housings. It still has split-headlight styling, but the DRLs are narrower. You can still discern some similarities in the body panel forms of the new Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder because they both share a common base.

Although the exterior is almost identical to its Toyota twin, the rear end is distinct because of the full-width, dark-themed LED taillights. The skid plates on both ends and the plastic coating on the squared-off wheel arches should be mentioned because they highlight the Grand Vitara's daring attitude.

With the exception of the color scheme and the Suzuki insignia, the Grand Vitara's interior is identical to that of the Hyryder. The seats, dashboard, and door cards of the Suzuki have dual-tone synthetic leather upholstery in black and burgundy with contrasting stitching. An all-black version is also available.

The most recent Suzuki Connect infotainment system, with voice assistance and 40+ connected functions, is installed on the 9-inch touchscreen. High-end trims combine a high-mounted touchscreen with a head-up display and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.

The panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging pad, superior sound system, 360-degree camera, and rear AC vents are additional highlights.

Six airbags and basic technologies like the Hill Descent Control are included in the safety equipment, while other markets outside of India may receive more advanced ADAS.

Two alternative powerplant options are available for the Suzuki Grand Vitara. The base model of the Progressive Smart Hybrid is equipped with a modest 6Ah Li-ion battery and a 1.5-liter K-series Dual Jet VVT petrol engine that is connected to a 12-Volt ISG system. This type generates 101 horsepower and 135 Nm of torque in total. Either a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters or a five-speed manual transmission can send power to either the front wheels or all four.

The second choice is a full-hybrid made by Toyota originally known as Intelligent Electric Drive. A new 1.5-liter engine, a more powerful electric motor, an ISG, and a bigger lithium-ion battery combine to give this vehicle 114 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. An e-CVT transmission is used only to send power to the front axle.

The huge battery is sufficient for up to 25 km of electric range in traffic despite being a self-charging hybrid. Four alternative driving modes are available: EV, Eco, Power, and Normal.

The Suzuki Grand Vitara made its premiere in India, just like its sibling, but the company intends to export it to other regions, including Africa. Along with its Toyota twin, the Suzuki Grand Vitara will be manufactured by Toyota Kirloskar in Bidadi, Karnataka (India). Pricing information will be released soon.
