Mercedes-Benz revealed the new 2022 C-Class. The C-Class is one of the most successful cars ever built by Daimler that managed to sell more than 10 million units since its first introduction in 1982. The C-Class used to be the entry-level model of Mercedes for several years before the A and B models released to the market.
The new 2022 Mercedes Benz C-Class introduced yesterday with a new face that is obviously inspired by the new S-Class. While the rear is almost similar to the S-Class but at the front, there are some differences and the C-Class looks more like the A and CLA classes with its sporty grille.
Inside the cabin, Mercedes-Benz has redesigned the entire cabin that is also inspired by the S-Class. There is a large 11.9-inch portrait screen on the dash but unlike the S-Class, the screen has been angled towards the driver by 6 degrees.
In terms of dimension, the new C-Class is 2.54 cm larger in wheelbase that gives the passenger more legroom. It measures 468 cm long, 186 cm wide, and 174.7 cm tall. The 2022 C-Class is also 1 cm wider than before while the roof is 1 cm lower.
The U.S. market will receive the mild-hybrid C300 and C300 4Matic models. With a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The M254 engine is connected to an integrated starter-generator (ISG) with 20 hp and 200 nm of torque for limited periods. The overall power is 255 hp and 400 nm of torque. which is enough to hit 100 km/h at 5.9 seconds. The top speed for both models is electronically limited to 208 km/h.
The new C300’s engine features a new twin-scroll turbocharger with reduced lag. The 4Matic all-wheel drive system also received some tweaks that allow it to send more power to the front axle if needed.
For the 2022 model year, there is only one transmission option and that's the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. This new gearbox has 30% less weight compared to the previous model. There is another 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster.
The 2022 C-Class will go on sale in the U.S. by early 2022 with a starting price of $42,000. Its main rivals in North America are BMW 3-series, Audi A4 and Lexus IS.
