The SsangYong Musso ute will arrive in Australia in 2022 with more technology and new price than before. To account for the improvements, SsangYong has raised pricing across the range by $800, adding to a $1000 price increase applied in mid-2021 when the ute's previous update arrived, which included a new front fascia and altered aesthetic components.
A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster will be standard on all Musso variants in 2022, replacing the existing 7.0-inch display, as well as a redesigned overhead console with LED map lighting, seatbelt reminders, LED interior lights, and body-colored handles and mirrors, which will replace black ones.
The engine in local models produces 178 horsepower and 400 Newton-meters of torque in six-speed manual models, or 178 horsepower and 420 Newton-meters in six-speed automatic vehicles, powering all four wheels via a low-range mode and an auto-locking rear differential.
However, Australians will lose out on a slew of upgrades available in South Korea, including as an upgraded 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower and 400-441Nm of torque.
Australia also misses out on any safety enhancements offered elsewhere, such as the addition of lane-keep assist, lane-centering aid, and braking capabilities for blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert systems thanks to new electric power steering.
Aside from the $800 price hikes across the board, metallic paint has also gone up from $495 to $595.
Buyers can spend $1500 more for XLV models over the regular ELX and Ultimate variations, which include a 300mm larger tub and rear leaf springs (on the XLV alone), increasing payload from 790kg across the normal range to between 880kg (Ultimate XLV) and 1025kg (Ultimate XLV) (ELX XLV).
Dual-zone climate control, Nappa leather interior, electric front seats, a sunroof, and heated back seats are included with the Ultimate's Luxury package.
