2023 Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 Revealed With 751 HP

Mercedes-AMG just introduced the EQS 53 4MATIC+ as the performance flagship of its electrified vehicles.

The most powerful EQS is a twin motor configuration with AMG-specific electric motors delivering 649 horsepower and 950 Nm of torque. While this is remarkable on its own, the Dynamic Plus package boosts it to 751 horsepower and 1020 Nm when the Race Start mode is activated.

This enables a 0-100 km/h time of 3.4 seconds. The vehicle's top speed is electronically restricted at 250 km/h. Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ steering and driving all four wheels

A 400-volt lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 107.8 kWh powers the vehicle. The WLTP range is around 526-580 kilometers, which is fewer than the 770 kilometers of the non-AMG version.

The AMG RIDE CONTROL+ adaptive air suspension with a four-link axle at the front and a multi-link axle at the rear features AMG-specific components and comes standard with rear-axle steering of up to 9 degrees.

The AMG high-performance compound braking system, which has 415 mm discs with six-piston calipers at the front and 378 mm discs with single-piston calipers at the rear, improves stopping power. Buyers may also select for optional AMG ceramic brakes with bigger 440 mm front discs.

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 is nevertheless extremely aerodynamic, with a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd, which is worse than the standard version's 0.20 Cd.

AMG also included the AMG Sound Experience customizable system, which can generate noise through loudspeakers both inside and outside the vehicle.

The AMG version of the EQS has identical front and rear bumpers as the sporty-looking AMG Line. Other aesthetic features include vertical chrome accents on the covered grille, a bigger rear spoiler, and AMG alloy wheels in 21- or 22-inch sizes.

The AMG Night Package Dark Chrome, AMG carbon trim pieces, and red brake calipers are available as options for the EQS.

The EQS 53 is equipped with the MBUX infotainment system, which includes AMG-specific displays and capabilities such as the optional AMG Track Pace telemetry system. The AMG seats with optional Nappa leather, the flat-bottom AMG steering wheel with Nappa leather, the aluminum paddles, the red topstitching, the sports pedals, and the AMG-branded floor mats and door sills are all sporty accents in the cabin.

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ will be priced closer to its market debut. The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ will go on sale in the United States in early 2022.
