The updated TLX and TLX Type S have been revealed by Acura. The car's exterior features a slightly modified grille with a new diamond mesh pattern and a frameless appearance. In other places, Acura swapped out the stock 18-inch wheels for bigger, machine-finished 19-inch wheels. The new split-spoke wheels on the TLX A-Spec are another example of the car's lax attitude; they are still 19 inches in diameter and have Shark Gray paint. Also included for buyers is an updated gloss-black rear spoiler. Although they are not as significant, the TLX Type S has received a sharper grille.
The TLX Type S has new 20-inch wheels with a Berlina Black finish instead of Shark Gray.
In addition, there are two new exterior colors. The TLX now comes in Liquid Carbon Metallic, while the A-Spec and Type S get Urban Gray Pearl.
The outward stylistic adjustments are hardly noticeable, while the cabin has a number of improvements. A larger, faster-processing 12.3-inch infotainment system joins the new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that drivers sit behind.
The base TLX now includes Milano leather seats, ambient lighting, and an ELS Studio audio system as part of the standard Technology Package. Additionally, a newly standard wireless smartphone charger is available to buyers.
With a head-up display and a higher-resolution surround view camera system, the TLX Type S improves on that. A special Sport+ setting that brings attention to performance specifics is also included in the previously mentioned digital instrument cluster.
The TLX A-Spec features thicker carpeting, redesigned front fender liners, acoustic front side glass, and more insulation in strategic areas. Furthermore, the carmaker claims that the Active Sound Control technology has been improved to further block outside noises from disturbing the interior ambience.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood produces 379 Nm of torque and 272 horsepower. It is coupled to the TLX A-Spec's standard all-wheel drive system, although it is still attached to the same ten-speed automatic transmission.
This TLX Type S boasts a 355 horsepower and 479 Nm torque turbocharged V6 engine. It is connected to a standard all-wheel drive system and a ten-speed automatic transmission with sport tuning.
The millimeter-wave radar and camera have larger fields of view in terms of safety. According to Acura, the noticeably wider detection angles enhance the effectiveness of collision prevention by better identifying characteristics of objects, white lines, and other road limits like curbs and road signs.
A new rear seatbelt reminder and an enhanced blind spot information system are also added to the 2024 TLX. Now, the latter can identify objects as far away as 25 meters.
Prices for the 2024 TLX and TLX Type S should be revealed soon as they reach at showrooms later this month.
