BYD has introduced significant updates and a price reduction for the 2024 Atto 3 electric SUV. Effective June 2024, the Atto 3’s price has been slashed by $3562, making it more affordable than ever. This update not only addresses key customer and media concerns but also includes new technological advancements and aesthetic changes aimed at boosting the vehicle's appeal. A subsequent price increase pushed it to $48,011, making the current price cut significant as it now stands as the cheapest it has ever been.
This update introduces several new features and changes. One of the most noticeable changes is the new Cosmos Black exterior paint color, replacing the previous red and green options. The rear window pillar now features black trim, and the tailgate has been updated with BYD badging, replacing the previous "Build Your Dreams" script, which had been controversial.
A major enhancement is the new, larger 15.6-inch touchscreen, replacing the former 12.8-inch screen. This larger screen was previously unavailable in right-hand-drive markets. Additionally, Apple CarPlay now operates wirelessly instead of through a USB cable, adding convenience for users. Another notable upgrade is the switch to standard-fit Continental EcoContact 6 tires, replacing the widely criticized Atlas Batman A51 tires, which had been panned for poor wet grip.
Interior updates include a new black and blue color scheme available with black and grey exterior paint. The existing light grey, blue, and red synthetic leather options are now restricted to white and blue exteriors. BYD has also introduced a new camping mode feature, allowing the air conditioning to operate while the vehicle is turned off, provided the battery has more than 20 percent charge.
While these changes are significant, they do not amount to a full mid-life facelift. The vehicle's structure, body panels, interior design, and specifications remain largely the same. The Atto 3 continues to be powered by a 203 hp electric motor driving the front wheels, with battery options of 50kWh and 60kWh, offering 345km and 420km of WLTP driving range, respectively.
The 2024 BYD Atto 3 is set to arrive in showrooms soon. With the updated model, the price has been reduced by $3562, making the starting price $44,499 before on-road costs for the Standard Range. The Extended Range model is also reduced by the same amount, now priced at $47,499. These changes make the BYD Atto 3 more competitive in the market, potentially attracting more buyers with its improved features and lower price point.
