The New York International Auto Show has seen the world premiere of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler. With minor changes to the outward design, the mid-cycle facelift promises better off-road performance, increased refinement, and higher safety.

Highlights include the addition of new trims with improved standard equipment and increased safety as standards, as well as a new Dana 44 Full Float solid rear axle for the Rubicon variants. The redesigned grille also provides a way for an 8,000-pound Warn winch that is now standard on Rubicon versions and is installed at the factory.

A "stealth antenna" built into the windscreen replaces the steel mast antenna, which could catch on trees, as another practical factor. While the Wrangler High Altitude now includes the Sky One-Touch powertop as standard equipment, a new premium soft top is now included as standard.

Along with 33-inch tires, front sway bar disconnects, a 4:1 4LO Rock-Trac part-time transfer case, and Tru-Lok front and rear axle lockers, you also get these.

Jeep offers a wide variety of new factory wheel options, ranging from 17-inch rims to 20s, in addition to the new grille. Those wheels can have tires up to 35 inches in diameter depending on the package.

An enhanced infotainment system is the major focus of the JL Wrangler's interior redesign for 2024. A new 12.3-inch touchscreen display is available. The Uconnect 5 infotainment system from Stellantis has replaced the Uconnect 4 model. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are now available with the new Uconnect 5, and its novel Trails Offroad feature is a helpful tool for valuing the Wrangler's trail-rated capabilities.

For vehicles released in 2024, powertrain choices and output levels stay the same. The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, with 270 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, is on the bottom rung. A manual transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic are both compatible with the venerable 3.6-liter Pentastar V6's 285 horsepower and 352 Nm of torque.

The 2.0-liter inline-four engine of the 4xe is connected to a motor generator installed on the transmission. The engine's output is 375 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque. Last but not least, the Rubicon 392's 6.4-liter V8 engine produces an astounding 470 horsepower and 638 Nm of torque.

For the 2.0-liter and 3.6-liter automatic powertrains, the X variant adds a Rock-Trac full-time transfer case, a camera that aids in off-roading, and 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. Of course, there is also the 470-horsepower V8-powered Rubicon 392.

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler lineup's price has not yet been announced, but you may start seeing the vehicles on April 7 at the 2023 New York Auto Show.
