2025 Nissan Kicks Play Pricing Released

Earlier this year, Nissan introduced a redesigned Kicks, a significant upgrade boasting a more potent engine, available all-wheel drive, and a design that finally breaks free from the rental-car aesthetic of its predecessor. However, this isn't the only Kicks on the market. Nissan has also introduced the new Kicks Play, essentially a rebadged 2024 Kicks S.

While Nissan hasn't explicitly stated its reasoning, the continued existence of the Kicks Play seems perplexing, especially considering its pricing. With a starting price of $21,520 (excluding the $1,390 destination fee), the Kicks Play offers minimal value compared to the redesigned 2025 Kicks, which starts at $21,830 with the same destination fee. This translates to a mere $310 price difference between the two models. However, the actual price disparity in the real world may be more significant, as we anticipate dealerships offering substantial discounts on the Kicks Play to clear inventory.

The Kicks Play retains the features of the previous model year, including standard halogen headlights, 16-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, a six-speaker audio system, and a 7-inch infotainment system. While this basic equipment may suffice for some buyers, it pales in comparison to the more modern features offered by the redesigned Kicks.

Despite its basic features, the Kicks Play does include a suite of driver-assistance systems, providing a degree of safety and peace of mind. These systems include Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Powering the Kicks Play is a familiar 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 122 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an Xtronic continuously variable transmission, sending power exclusively to the front wheels. While adequate for city driving, the engine's performance may feel underwhelming compared to the more powerful engine options available in the redesigned Kicks.2025 Nissan Kicks Play

the Nissan Kicks Play presents a confusing proposition for potential buyers. Its minimal price difference compared to the redesigned Kicks, combined with its outdated features and design, makes it difficult to justify its existence. While it may offer a slightly lower entry price, the Kicks Play ultimately falls short of providing the value, performance, and modern features that consumers increasingly expect in a subcompact SUV.
