The most extreme R8 variant that is offered for purchase was disclosed by ABT Sportsline. The ABT XGT is not your average R8; one glance is all it takes to realize that.
Externally, the R8 LMS GT2's larger body, intakes, and oversized aero parts are all present. The street-legal Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires wrapped around ABT's center-lock forged wheels, which are 19 inches in front and 20 inches in back, are the only distinguishing feature. In addition to an exclusive "heritage" livery and an infinite number of customizable options, the color scheme consists of four distinct exterior shade options.
The roll cage, racing steering wheel, and center console in the style of a motorsport are all still present in the interior, which also bears a striking resemblance to the R8 LMS GT2. The tuner added a handbrake, an immobilizer, a new digital instrument cluster, a reversing camera, and the required controls for the air conditioning, mirrors, central locking, and indicators to make the ABT XGT suitable for daily driving.
The 5.2-liter V10 engine, which is naturally aspirated, generates 630 horsepower, which is the same amount as the GT2 racecar. An automatic seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission transfers power to the rear axle. The maximum velocity is 310 km/h; however, this figure is contingent upon the rear spoiler's adjustment. With its 1,400 kg unladen weight, the ABT XGT is an extremely lightweight supercar.
ABT was required to conduct crash tests because this is a street-legal vehicle. They also had to meet emission and noise regulations, which is why the model has a new exhaust. Additionally, a fueling system derived from the production-spec Audi R8 allows owners to refuel at gas stations.
ABT is taking orders for the XGT, but we suspect that despite the $651,562 starting price, the 99 units will be sold out sooner or later.
