In 2023, Thailand saw a significant surge in electric vehicle (EV) registrations, totaling around 76,000 units, which represents 12% of all vehicle registrations in the country. As the demand for EVs in Thailand grows, BYD's Denza brand has officially announced its expansion into this promising market. Thailand is now Denza’s fourth international market in the Asia-Pacific region, joining Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Singapore in its regional lineup.

To mark its entry, Denza plans to launch two versions of its high-end D9 model in Thailand: the Denza D9 Premium and the D9 Premium AWD. These models will be priced at 1,999,900 baht (approximately $58,900) and 2,699,900 baht (around $79,600), respectively, positioning them as premium offerings in the EV and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) categories. The D9 Premium will be available in four distinct exterior colors — white, blue, gray, and black — complemented by interior color options in brown or beige.

The 2024 Denza D9 is a spacious vehicle with dimensions measuring 5250 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, and 1920 mm in height, with an impressive wheelbase of 3110 mm. This model will be offered in three PHEV and two fully electric (EV) variants. The PHEV options are engineered for long journeys, with comprehensive cruising ranges of 970 km, 980 km, and 1,050 km, depending on the configuration. Meanwhile, the EV variants are built with CLTC ranges of either 600 km or 620 km, giving drivers substantial all-electric range choices.

Inside, the Denza D9 features a modern, tech-centered cabin with both 7- and 4-seat layouts, catering to families and luxury travelers alike. The center console is equipped with a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen display, a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel, and a heads-up display to enhance driver awareness and control. Interestingly, the 2024 D9 departs from the current trend of using touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel, opting instead for physical buttons that are easier to operate while driving. This choice highlights Denza's focus on both functionality and user comfort.

BYD has reported that total global orders for Denza vehicles have surpassed 250,000 units, demonstrating a strong demand for the brand's electric and hybrid vehicles. To support its launch in Thailand, Denza has announced plans to establish five showrooms across the country, along with ten additional sales outlets by the end of the year. This expansion highlights BYD’s dedication to establishing a robust presence in Thailand’s growing EV market, providing local consumers with premium choices and expanding the region’s electric mobility options.
