Chery Unveiled Jetour Shanhai T2 A Hybrid SUV

Chery's Jetour division introduced the latest addition to its lineup, the Shanhai T2 off-road SUV, on April 22nd. This new model, part of the Shanhai series, is priced between $24,800 and $29,000. Serving as the plug-in hybrid iteration of the Jetour Traveller, the Shanhai T2 marks a significant advancement. While the initial release includes three models, all featuring two-wheel drive, a four-wheel drive variant is scheduled for release in the latter half of this year.

Under the hood, the entire Shanhai T2 series is propelled by a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system. This system comprises a fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI hybrid engine, complemented by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, and paired with a 3-speed DHT transmission. Together, they generate a formidable maximum combined power output of 380 hp and a combined peak torque of 610 Nm. Notably, the lower to mid-range models are outfitted with a 26.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack sourced from CALB-Tech, yielding a CLTC pure electric range of 129 km. Meanwhile, the high-end model boasts a larger 43.24 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack from CATL, providing an extended CLTC pure electric range of 208 km. Impressively, the comprehensive range of the Shanhai T2 stretches up to 1,300 km. Moreover, utilizing fast charging capabilities, it only takes 30 minutes to charge the battery from 30% to 80%.

In terms of design, the Shanhai T2 inherits the distinctive aesthetics of the Jetour Traveller, featuring a robust square box shape, prominent front and rear bumpers, and square headlights. Notable enhancements include a blackened front grille with an illuminated JETOUR logo, roof luggage racks, and outwardly protruding wheel arches, all contributing to its rugged off-road persona. Charging ports, both slow and fast, are conveniently located on the right side of the body, with support for a 6.6 kW external discharge function. As a compact SUV, the Jetour Shanhai T2 measures 4785 mm in length, 2006 mm in width, 1875 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2800 mm.

Inside the cabin, occupants are greeted by a four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a sizable 15.6-inch central control screen. Powering these features is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, ensuring seamless functionality. Additionally, standard amenities include an electric tailgate, keyless entry for the driver seat, front-row soundproof glass, electric driver seat adjustment, and an 8-speaker audio system. For the mid- to high-end models, an array of premium upgrades awaits, including a level 2 advanced driving assistance system, a panoramic sunroof, steering wheel heating, 50W mobile phone wireless charging, ambient lighting, and front seat ventilation and heating.
