Chevrolet's foray into the electric vehicle market with the Equinox EV brings forth a promising option for environmentally-conscious consumers. Priced competitively, the entry-level 1LT FWD variant starts at $34,995, while the top-tier model reaches a maximum of nearly $46,800, excluding the $1,395 destination fee.

Initially touted to debut at around $30,000, the Equinox EV's actual starting price remains close to Chevrolet's target, though slightly higher. Nevertheless, at $34,995, it presents a compelling alternative, notably undercutting the most affordable Tesla Model Y by a significant margin, which begins at $42,990. Moreover, eligible buyers can leverage the full $7,500 federal EV tax credit, potentially reducing the purchase price to as low as $27,495.

All front-wheel-drive iterations of the Equinox EV boast an EPA-certified range of 319 miles (514 km). While pricing for the all-wheel-drive variants is yet to be disclosed, Chevrolet asserts that they offer an EPA-estimated range of 459 km.

Powering the front-wheel-drive models is a single electric motor generating 210 hp and 327 Nm of torque, while the all-wheel-drive versions boast 290 hp and 469 Nm. Details regarding the battery pack capacity are still forthcoming. However, the Equinox EV offers convenient charging options, with 11.5 kW Level 2 home charging capable of adding 82 km of range per hour. Utilizing a DC fast-charging station, it can recharge at up to 150 kW, providing an additional 113 km of range in just 10 minutes.
