Ford is expanding its street truck lineup with the debut of the 2025 F-150 Lobo, a bold and aggressive take on the classic F-150, following the successful launch of the Maverick Lobo last year. The "Lobo" name, meaning "wolf" in Spanish, has a legacy that dates back to a 1981 Bronco concept and was later revived for a Mexican-market F-150 in 1997. Now, the nameplate is making its U.S. debut, not as a standalone trim but as an optional appearance package on the STX variant of the F-150.
This new iteration of the Lobo is designed to emphasize street styling, and it’s available exclusively in the SuperCrew configuration, paired with the 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine. Despite the sporty appearance, the engine retains its standard 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, without performance upgrades. For those seeking more power, options like the 450-hp EcoBoost V6 or the 720-hp supercharged 5.2-liter V8 in the Raptor R remain available in other parts of the F-150 lineup.
While it's not a full-blown performance model like the SVT Lightning of the past, the F-150 Lobo does bring a sporty attitude to the table. It features four-wheel drive with an electronically controlled, on-demand two-speed transfer case, offering selectable drive modes such as 2H, 4A, 4H, and 4L. With this setup, the truck supports a maximum payload of 1,450 pounds and can tow up to 7,900 pounds, making it capable as well as stylish.
Aesthetically, the Lobo is designed to turn heads. It comes with a 10-piece ground effects kit, prominent black exterior accents, and a unique cowl hood. The aggressive front end is defined by a custom grille and a dual-layer LED light bar, while the rear is enhanced by tweaked taillights and Lobo-specific badging. To complete the look, the rear suspension has been lowered by two inches, giving it a planted, performance-oriented stance.
The truck rides on exclusive 22-inch gloss black wheels, and dual exhaust tips add a finishing touch to its street-smart look—something the Maverick Lobo doesn’t offer. Although black is a fitting choice, Ford also provides alternative color options including Atlas Blue, Rapid Red, Carbonized Gray, and Oxford White.
Pricing for the F-150 Lobo starts at $59,995, which includes destination and handling fees. This puts it about $4,695 above the regular STX trim, making it a premium option for those wanting added visual flair without jumping into the full performance tier. Although the current fourteenth-generation F-150 has been around for nearly five years, Ford is expected to keep it in production until at least 2028, as development of the next-generation model has reportedly been delayed, according to sources such as Automotive News and The Detroit Free Press. The F-150 Lobo, then, may be one of several bold editions Ford introduces to keep its flagship truck lineup fresh and appealing.
