Some years ago, imagining a truck on electric was just an unreachable goal, but now thanks to the rapid progress of electric batteries every day we could see huger vehicles goes on electric. Ford F-150 Lightning one unique successful example. This company has gone further and now is just developing on a longer-range version on it. However, battery pack should not impact the weight so much.
The Ford F-150 Lightning is one of the top-rated Electric trucks. This vehicle can hit 452 hp with the standard range, that’s about 26 hp more than Ford’s estimation. But it’s not enough for the company. Blue oval some days ago announced the new F-150 with longer range. This new version will have its battery pack generation. Also, the power is calculated to be around 570 hp. However, for both range battery packs torque is the same (775 pound-feet).
The lucky customers of extended-range model, could have a bit more of hauling. The payload capacity was expected to be 2,000-pound but it is increased to 2,235 pounds. These numbers are just for well equipped ones. F-150 Lightning Vehicle Engineering Manager, Dapo Adewusi, claimed:
"We were seriously focused on raising the bar on this truck, including after we revealed it, so we can deliver more for our customers and our drive for continuous improvement will get a big boost when we start getting feedback and ideas from customers when they receive their Lightnings."
Also Ford CEO, Jim Farley, emphasized on"another electric pickup that’s different than this one”. that’s why we should expect something perfect. This new version will go on production line soon, in Tennessee. This section has the duty of producing batteries too.
The fun part of the new truck is the capability of having aero component. Good trick to extend the range. let’s expect something different!
