The unveiling of the latest iteration of the Ford Transit Custom has sparked the interest of automotive enthusiasts and tuners alike, setting the stage for the official introduction of the MS-RT trim. This new variant of the popular van brings a refreshing blend of style and performance enhancements, catering to drivers seeking a more dynamic driving experience.

Transit Custom

Externally, the Ford Transit Custom MS-RT exudes an aura reminiscent of the famed RS line, thanks to its aggressive bodykit and larger wheels. While the powertrain options remain unchanged, encompassing diesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric variants, the aesthetic upgrades are substantial. The front fascia boasts enlarged, albeit mostly decorative, intakes, coupled with a prominent splitter and the distinctive MS-RT emblem adorning the honeycomb grille. Body-colored fender extensions, additional vents, and sleek side skirts contribute to the sporty profile, with the pièce de résistance being the "motorsport-inspired" roof spoiler designed to optimize airflow. The rear bumper, featuring sculpted outlets and an integrated diffuser, adds to the overall athletic appeal, further accentuated by vibrant color options such as Yellow Green and MS-RT Blue.

While the suspension setup remains unaltered, the Transit Custom MS-RT receives a performance boost with the inclusion of anthracite 19-inch wheels wrapped in sticky Goodyear Eagle Sport rubber. Not only do these wheels reduce unsprung mass, but they also enhance stability, thanks to the wider tires which increase the track width by over 50 mm.

Inside the cabin, the MS-RT treatment elevates the ambience with bespoke features such as new seats adorned with pronounced bolsters and a distinctive blue stitching pattern on the eco-leather/suede upholstery. MS-RT branding is tastefully integrated throughout, from the emblems adorning the headrests and floor mats to the steering wheel with its midnight blue marker and matching stitching. As a high-spec trim, the Transit Custom MS-RT comes equipped with amenities like dual-zone climate control and a rear-view camera, ensuring a comfortable and convenient driving experience. Cargo capacity remains unchanged, offering up to 6.8 m3 of space at the back and a maximum payload of 1,124 kg, making it as practical as it is stylish.

Under the hood, the Transit Custom MS-RT is available with a range of powertrain options to suit varying preferences and requirements. The electric variant stands out as the most compelling choice, boasting a zero-emission drivetrain capable of delivering up to 282 hp to the rear wheels. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid configuration combines a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor to achieve a combined output of 229 hp. For traditionalists, the non-electrified 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbodiesel option offers a respectable power output of either 168 hp with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive or 148 hp with a six-speed manual and front-wheel-drive configuration.
