Chinese automotive manufacturer Geely is preparing to enter the Polish market with two crossover models, marking a significant step in the brand's global expansion strategy. The company will launch the Geely EX5, a fully electric SUV, and an unnamed compact crossover equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The entry into Poland will be managed through a newly signed distribution agreement with Jameel Motors, a well-established vehicle distributor with decades of international experience.

The distribution deal was signed on May 8, 2025, between Geely Auto and Jameel Motors, with the goal of bringing Geely’s new energy vehicle (NEV) lineup to Polish consumers. Jameel Motors, originally founded in Saudi Arabia in 1945, has built a strong global presence, operating in countries such as China, India, Egypt, Turkey, Japan, Morocco, Monaco, and Algeria. It currently partners with well-known automotive brands including Toyota, Lexus, MG, GAC, and Changan, giving it considerable experience in distributing both traditional and electric vehicles.

Geely’s decision to expand into Poland aligns with encouraging signs from the local EV market. According to data shared by the company, battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales in Poland experienced a 41% increase in February 2025. This growth provides fertile ground for Geely’s entrance. The two vehicles destined for Poland are built on the brand’s GEA modular architecture, which supports various electrified powertrains. The first to debut will be the Geely EX5, expected to go on sale in the third quarter of 2025.

Geely EX5

The Geely EX5, also known in China as the Geely Galaxy E5, is a compact electric crossover with a clean, minimalistic exterior. It measures 4615 mm in length, 1901 mm in width, and 1670 mm in height, with a 2750 mm wheelbase, making it well-suited for urban driving. The EX5 features a 215-horsepower electric motor, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds. Buyers can choose between two LFP battery packs: 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh, offering a CLTC-rated range of 440 to 530 km. The vehicle has already found success abroad, notably selling 1,000 units in a single month in Australia, and has also been introduced in Indonesia, Thailand, Mexico, and other regions. In Malaysia, Proton rebadges it as the eMas 7 SUV.

In Poland, Jameel Motors’ General Manager, Marcin Słomkowski, emphasized that the EX5 stands out due to its next-generation electric platform, high safety standards, and spacious interior.

While specific details of the second model haven’t been officially disclosed, it is expected to be a plug-in hybrid C-SUV also based on the GEA platform. Market speculation suggests this vehicle will be the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i, currently sold in China. This model uses the brand’s latest Leishen 2.0 (NordThor 2.0) hybrid system, which includes a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine delivering 110 hp and an electric motor producing 215 hp. Two battery options are available—8.05 kWh and 19.09 kWh—offering pure electric driving ranges of 55 to 120 km (CLTC). The combined range can reach up to 1,420 km, making it an ideal choice for long-distance drivers looking to balance electric efficiency with extended range flexibility.
