Geely is set to launch its newest SUV, the Galaxy Starship 7, as part of its Galaxy lineup, highlighting advanced hybrid technology, a futuristic design, and an array of smart features. Built on the GEA platform, the Starship 7 is powered by Geely’s NordThor 2.0 plug-in hybrid system, which incorporates a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and a robust electric drive system. The SUV has two lithium iron phosphate battery options, supplied by SVOLT and Xinwanda, with capacities of 28.94 kWh and 19.09 kWh, providing electric ranges of 150 km and 101 km, respectively. In its hybrid configuration, with a full battery and fuel tank, the Galaxy Starship 7 offers an impressive maximum range of 1,430 km, aimed at appealing to long-distance travelers and eco-conscious consumers alike.
The Starship 7 showcases Geely’s Ripple design language, drawing inspiration from natural elements. Measuring 4740 mm in length, 1905 mm in width, and 1685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2755 mm, it promises ample interior space for passengers and cargo. The SUV’s aerodynamic profile is enhanced by 20 low-drag features, resulting in a competitive drag coefficient of 0.288Cd. In keeping with its unique design ethos, the vehicle will be available in six colors inspired by Chinese porcelain, but it eschews the increasingly common hidden door handles in favor of a more classic look. Through-type taillights and exhaust outlets further accentuate the vehicle’s streamlined rear design.
Inside, the Galaxy Starship 7 adopts a modern, symmetrical T-shaped layout, with fabric and chrome accents that add to its refined ambiance. The SUV is equipped with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and a 13.8-inch W-HUD (wide head-up display), allowing for an intuitive driving experience. The Galaxy Flyme Auto smart cockpit system powers its infotainment, including a 16-speaker Flyme Sound system, AI voice assistant, and ambient lighting. The cabin also offers comfort features like seat ventilation, heating, massage, and a 50W wireless mobile phone charger. A flat-bottom double-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive buttons further elevates the tech-savvy interior. A standout feature is the SUV’s “sentry mode,” designed to monitor surroundings and enhance security when parked.
The Galaxy Starship 7’s powertrain leverages an 11-in-1 electric drive system featuring P1+P3 electric motors, providing a high efficiency of 92.5% and a motor efficiency of 98.02%. The hybrid system enables the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, delivering solid performance alongside its impressive fuel economy.
By combining long-range capability, cutting-edge design, and a suite of high-tech features, Geely’s Galaxy Starship 7 SUV positions itself as a premium choice in the hybrid SUV market, appealing to drivers seeking both efficiency and style. With pre-sales set to begin on November 8, the Galaxy Starship 7 is expected to officially launch before year’s end.
