Prepare to be captivated by the Haima EX-00, a distinctive electric vehicle (EV) set to make waves in popular travel and tourist destinations in 2024. Originating from Haima, formerly a Mazda joint venture, the company was established in 1992 in China's Hainan Province. In 2006, the FAW Group, the second-largest state-owned automaker in China, replaced Mazda in the joint venture. Faced with tepid sales, Haima aims to rejuvenate its business by leading the charge in EV sales with the introduction of the EX-00 in 2024.
The genesis of the Haima EX-00 can be traced back to the IT Box company, a subsidiary of the FAW Group. In collaboration with Haima, the MPV concept was unveiled in 2021, showcasing a design influenced by its IT Box lineage. Adorned with badges that highlight its heritage, the EX-00 stands as a testament to the synergy between IT innovation and automotive expertise. A larger sibling, the IT Box concept BM-400, is also on the horizon, yet to transition to mass production.
In 2024, the concept takes a tangible form as the EX-00 transitions from the drawing board to the open road. Retaining the two-tone paint job from its conceptual stage, the mass-produced version exudes a somewhat retro charm, capturing the attention of onlookers. Beyond its unique design, the EX-00 is purpose-built for travel, tourism, and efficient luggage storage.
Measuring 4500mm in length and 2850mm in width, the EX-00 maximizes space utilization with its distinctive 1+1+3 layout, accommodating five seats. Ideal for travel enthusiasts, the vehicle features massive 1600mm electric sliding doors and dedicated luggage storage areas. Geared for ride-hailing services, it offers comfortable seating, independent rear AC controls, ceiling screens for backseat passengers, and various storage compartments.
Underneath its eye-catching exterior, the EX-00 boasts a pure electric motor, providing an impressive 480km range. Equipped with driver attention sensors, fast-charging capabilities, and a well-sized center console touchscreen, the vehicle ensures a modern and convenient driving experience. A high-contrast console screen caters specifically to the driver's needs.
Initiating production in November, the first units of the EX-00 have rolled off the assembly line. Full-scale mass production is imminent, with sales slated to commence in 2024. As the Haima EX-00 prepares to hit the streets, it marks a significant step towards redefining electric mobility in the travel and tourism sector.
