Great Wall Motors Haval brand is preparing to introduce the new generation H9 SUV to international markets. Following its recent unveiling in China, the model is poised to make its debut in overseas territories, with Russia being the first in line for a planned August launch. While official pricing details for global markets are yet to be confirmed, early estimates from Russian dealerships suggest a starting price around $50,400.
Design-wise, the overseas version of the Haval H9 closely mirrors its domestic counterpart. The robust exterior features a bold, chrome-laden grille, square headlights with circular LED daytime running lights, and a vertically oriented rear light cluster. The vehicle’s imposing stance is further accentuated by a side-opening tailgate and an external spare tire. Dimensions are expected to remain consistent with the Chinese-spec model, which boasts substantial proportions.
Inside, the H9 adopts a familiar layout with a large 14.6-inch central touchscreen, a four-spoke steering wheel, and a generous amount of physical buttons. The cabin architecture prioritizes practicality and functionality, offering a spacious three-row seating configuration.
Under the hood, buyers can choose between two engine options. A 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission delivers 218 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. Alternatively, a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine mated to a nine-speed automatic produces 184 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque. Both powertrains are expected to be complemented by a sophisticated four-wheel drive system, including locking differentials and off-road driving modes.
Intriguingly, rumors suggest that a more powerful 3.0-liter V6 engine developed by Great Wall Motor might be added to the lineup at a later date. However, official confirmation of this engine option is still pending.
As the H9 prepares for its global debut, it faces stiff competition in the large SUV segment. With its combination of rugged design, spacious interior, and capable off-road performance, the Haval H9 aims to carve out a niche for itself in international markets.
While the Chinese domestic market is expected to see the new H9 launched in August, with starting prices estimated around $26,400, the overseas model is likely to command a premium due to factors such as import duties, market conditions, and additional features that may be included in export-spec vehicles.
