Great Wall Motor’s Haval brand officially unveiled images of the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of its rugged off-road SUV, the Haval Raptor. This new gasoline-powered model complements the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variant, which is already available in the Chinese market with a starting price of approximately \$22,800.

While the ICE variant maintains the overall bold and boxy design language of the existing PHEV version, several key differences distinguish it visually. The front fascia now features a vertically-oriented waterfall-style grille, replacing the horizontal slat design seen on the hybrid. The illuminated Haval lettering sits prominently in the center, adding a modern, high-tech aesthetic. The headlights, which were previously round, have been replaced by rectangular units, giving the front end a sharper, more angular appearance. The changes continue at the rear, where the taillights have also adopted a rectangular form and include vertical LED light strip accents for a more robust and contemporary look. Notably, the rear-mounted spare tire is still present, reinforcing the vehicle’s off-road-ready identity.

The SUV is also equipped with a range of functional and style-enhancing exterior features, including a panoramic sunroof, roof rails, side steps, and conventional door handles. These elements contribute to both practicality and visual appeal, especially for drivers seeking adventure or outdoor excursions.

According to information previously submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China, the dimensions of the Haval Raptor ICE remain largely consistent with those of the PHEV version. The vehicle measures 4800 mm in length (or 4680 mm in a possible alternate configuration), 1950 mm in width, and between 1822 and 1843 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 2738 mm, providing a stable and roomy interior layout. Tire options for this model include 245/55 R19, 265/60 R18, and 255/60 R19 specifications, which offer a balance of off-road grip and on-road comfort.

Under the hood, the Haval Raptor ICE variant is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering up to 235 horsepower. This engine is expected to be paired with a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and is likely to offer an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, enhancing its off-road capabilities and driving performance. With these specifications, the ICE version aims to attract buyers who prefer traditional gasoline power while still enjoying the durability and adventurous spirit the Raptor name represents.
