Hyundai and Iveco Forge Partnership for Electric Commercial Vehicle Advancement in Europe

Hyundai and Iveco have joined forces to develop a new electric commercial vehicle tailored for the European market. While specifics remain scarce, the collaboration confirms that the vehicle will be built upon Hyundai's global eLCV platform and is slated for debut at the IAA Transportation show in Hannover, Germany, this September.

This venture marks the introduction of Hyundai's innovative platform to the export market, with a focus on commercial vehicles ranging from 2.5 to 3.5 tons in gross vehicle weight (GVW). Hyundai will handle the manufacturing and supply of the chassis cab, while Iveco will take charge of customization and distribution.

Electric Commercial Vehicle Advancement

While details are limited, indications suggest that the vehicle will feature a low load floor, enhancing its cargo-carrying capabilities. Though scant, this insight hints at the vehicle's potential to offer a competitive edge in the bustling van segment, bolstering Iveco's market presence.

This collaboration builds upon previous joint efforts between Hyundai and Iveco, particularly in the development of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles like the eDaily FCEV and E-Way FCEV. The expanded partnership not only broadens the scope of their collaboration to encompass a wider range of eco-friendly offerings but also underscores their shared commitment to expediting the transition toward carbon-neutral mobility and transport.


Ken Ramírez of Hyundai emphasized the transformative potential of their collaboration, stating, "We believe our Global eLCV platform, coupled with Iveco Group’s expertise in the European market, will be a transformative force in the LCV market, contributing to the acceleration of a carbon-neutral future in Europe."
