Land Rover Classic Unveils Ultimate Beach Luxury

Author: |

As summer approaches, Land Rover Classic has introduced a new vehicle that is the epitome of beach-ready luxury—the Defender V8 Works Bespoke Soft Top. This new model brings a touch of nostalgia, marking the first time in nearly a decade that Land Rover has released a Defender Soft Top. The vehicle is based on the Defender 90, originally produced between 2012 and 2016, which undergoes a comprehensive enhancement and reengineering process to create the perfect summer ride.

While the design remains largely faithful to the classic Defender, it features a number of bespoke elements that enhance its appeal. One of the standout features is the custom canvas roof, available in Black, Dark Khaki, Navy, or Sand. The roof is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing the side and rear sections to be unzipped and rolled up, providing an open-air experience while still offering some protection from the elements. For those who prefer a more minimalist style, a Bikini roof option is available, offering protection solely for the front seats and available in the same color choices.

The vehicle offers extensive customization options, including a selection of 49 paint finishes. If none of these options are quite right, customers can use the bespoke color service to create a custom match. In addition, the grille, door handles, and bonnet script can all be personalized to fit the buyer’s vision. The model comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels paired with mud-terrain tires, but buyers can upgrade to larger 18-inch alloys in Black or Limestone.

Inside, the Defender V8 Works Bespoke Soft Top is just as customizable, offering five monotone leather options and eight two-tone leather combinations, including colors like Liberty Blue and Garnet. For those with an adventurous spirit, there are even unique add-ons available, such as a custom surfboard rack or an onboard wine cooler, making it the ideal vehicle for luxury beach getaways.

Under the hood, the vehicle is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 405 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque. This power is managed through an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system with a two-speed transfer case, allowing the Defender to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in just 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 171 km/h. To enhance performance, Land Rover Classic has upgraded the suspension with Eibach anti-roll bars, Bilstein dampers, and new spring rates. Additionally, the vehicle comes with Alcon brakes, offering improved handling and braking performance.

Priced from £195,000 in the UK before taxes, the Defender V8 Works Bespoke Soft Top carries a premium of nearly £50,000 over the new Defender OCTA. Buyers will also receive a one-year unlimited mileage warranty, ensuring peace of mind for their summer adventures.
