Land Rover Discovery Turns 35 with Stunning Special Editions

Author: |

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Land Rover Discovery, the iconic British automaker has unveiled two exclusive special edition models: the Discovery Tempest and Discovery Gemini. These new variants highlight Land Rover’s commitment to innovation while honoring the legacy of a vehicle that has defined the luxury SUV category for decades.

Leading the lineup is the Tempest, which Land Rover describes as the most luxurious and feature-rich Discovery model ever built. The exterior immediately captures attention with a bold selection of color options—Charente Grey, Carpathian Grey, or Varesine Blue—paired with a distinctive Petra Copper Gloss roof. This contrasting roof color adds a refined visual flair, which is complemented by copper-toned accents and exclusive badging. Enhancing its upscale presence are the bespoke 22-inch wheels finished in gloss black with a Petra Copper-tinted lacquer. In keeping with its premium status, the Tempest includes signature puddle lights that project a circular design onto the ground when entering or exiting the vehicle.

While details about the interior are limited, what’s confirmed promises a first-class experience. The cabin features Ebony Windsor leather upholstery and Shadow Aluminum trim, blending comfort and modern aesthetics. Additional features include personalized treadplates and dedicated rear climate controls, underscoring Land Rover’s focus on both luxury and functionality.

The second special edition, the Discovery Gemini, takes a different stylistic approach. It is available in six exterior color options, including the exclusive Sedona Red, and comes with a Narvik Gloss Black roof for added contrast. Atlas Gloss trim elements add a polished finish, while the Gemini rides on distinctive 21-inch wheels. The puddle lights here display a hexagonal pattern, differentiating it further from the Tempest. Inside, the Gemini closely resembles the Tempest in terms of layout and materials but adds a four-zone climate control system and a front cooler, enhancing comfort for all passengers.

In addition to these special editions, Land Rover has upgraded the S and Dynamic SE trims with improved specifications. Although specific changes weren’t fully detailed, the models now offer new 21- and 22-inch wheel options.

To boost the Discovery’s appeal for adventurous owners, Land Rover also introduced curated accessory packages. The Beach Days pack includes practical items like a collapsible organizer, sunshade, and a roof rack suitable for surfboards or canoes. The Snow Days pack caters to winter enthusiasts with crossbars for skis and snowboards, along with side steps and durable rubber floor mats. Meanwhile, the Road Trip pack focuses on comfort and entertainment, offering rear media holders compatible with tablets and laptops, a sunshade, cross bars, and a rooftop storage box.

Under the hood, the Discovery offers two engine options. The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers 296 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, while more powerful variants are equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that outputs 355 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.

The 2026 Land Rover Discovery is now available in the U.S., with pricing starting at $60,200. The special edition Gemini is priced at $70,800, and the premium Tempest model tops the range at $83,500. These new editions not only celebrate the model’s long-standing heritage but also set a fresh benchmark for luxury and innovation in the SUV segment.
