In 1948, John Cooper and his father Charles established the Cooper Car Company. The constructor achieved success in Formula One by winning the world championships in 1959 and 1960. Later, the modified Minis won on the track and in rallies.
Mini is releasing a new special edition package dubbed Mini Anniversary Edition to commemorate the Mini Cooper's racing achievements. It is currently available in America for the John Cooper Works Hardtop 2 Door for $39,900.
The John Cooper Works Hardtop 2 Door serves as the foundation for the Mini Anniversary Edition. It only comes in a British Racing Green body with red-edged white hood stripes. A white roof and mirror tops are present. The package also has a panoramic moonroof. It also has the number 74 conspicuously displayed on its hood, as a nod to the Mini Cooper's first race, which it won.
The autographs of John Cooper, John Michael Cooper, and Charlie Cooper are engraved on the dashboard of the Mini Anniversary Edition. The model has navigation for the infotainment system as standard equipment.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 228 horsepower and 319 Nm of torque under the hood. According to the manufacturer's specifications, it accelerates to 100 kph in 5.9 seconds.
The Mini Anniversary Edition package is currently available for order through dealers, and manufacturing is restricted to only 740 units.
