Ram Unveils ProMaster EV

Ram is electrifying its lineup with the introduction of the all-new ProMaster EV, marking the brand's entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market. The ProMaster EV, designed to compete with the Ford E-Transit, is Ram's initial foray into the electric segment, setting the stage for future electrified offerings from the brand.

Scheduled to hit the market ahead of the Ram 1500 REV, the ProMaster EV maintains the familiar design of its gasoline-powered counterpart, which is based on the Fiat Ducato sold internationally. Visually identical to its non-electric counterpart, the ProMaster EV features a driver's side charging port and standard LED lighting units, distinguishing it as the electrified variant.

The ProMaster EV will be available in two distinct configurations tailored for specific missions. The delivery variant, currently open for orders, boasts a pocket door and an anodized aluminum roll-up rear door. This variant is equipped with an extended super-high roof, a 4,039 mm wheelbase, and a substantial payload capacity of 921 kg.

While details on the cargo variant are limited, it is expected to offer cargo lengths of 3,658 and 3,962 mm, enhancing flexibility for diverse commercial needs. The cargo variant will also feature an increased payload capacity of up to 1,370 kg, providing versatility for various business applications.

Inside the ProMaster EV, drivers will encounter a familiar cabin equipped with a 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system, integrating features such as Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Optional amenities include a heated steering wheel, a heated windshield, and a wireless smartphone charger, enhancing driver comfort and convenience.

Safety features are a key focus, with a suite of standard driver assistance systems including automatic high-beam headlights, full-speed forward collision warning, crosswind assist, post-collision braking, traffic sign information, drowsiness detection, and a rearview camera with dynamic gridlines. For advanced safety options, buyers can opt for Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Drive Assist, and Lane Keep Assist, among others.

The ProMaster EV is powered by a 110 kWh battery pack, driving a front-mounted motor producing 268 hp and 409 Nm of torque. This electric setup is anticipated to deliver a city range of up to 261 km, positioning the ProMaster EV competitively against rivals like the E-Transit.

While details on recharging are limited, Ram confirmed Level 2 capability of up to 11 kW and DC fast charging options ranging from 50 kW to 150 kW. The ProMaster EV lineup is expected to expand, offering five configurations, including two roof heights, two cargo lengths, and two body styles, with best-in-class cargo capacity and interior cargo height of 14,838 liters and 2,184 mm, respectively. Further information will be disclosed closer to the launch date, showcasing Ram's commitment to electrification and versatility in the commercial vehicle segment.
