Renault has unveiled the all-new 4 E-Tech, a fully electric subcompact SUV that reimagines the iconic Renault 4 from the 1960s. Building upon the success of the 4EVER concept presented two years ago, the 4 E-Tech offers a blend of retro styling and modern technology.
Based on a stretched version of the AmpR Small architecture, the 4 E-Tech boasts increased ground clearance, optimized suspension settings for a comfortable ride, and a tight turning circle. Sharing 68 percent of its components with the R5 E-Tech, the 4 E-Tech is notably larger, offering more space for passengers and luggage.
The SUV's exterior design remains faithful to the 4EVER Trophy concept, featuring a distinctive single-piece grille, round headlights, and a generous dose of plastic cladding. The interior showcases a modern and functional design, borrowing elements from the Renault 5 E-Tech, including a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The 4 E-Tech will be available with two fully electric powertrain options, both sending power to the front wheels. The base version combines a 120 horsepower electric motor with a 40 kWh battery, offering a range of 300 kilometers. The more powerful option features a 148 horsepower electric motor and a larger 52 kWh battery pack, capable of achieving a range of 402 kilometers. Both options support DC charging, with the larger battery compatible with 100 kW charging and the smaller battery with 80 kW charging.
In addition to the production version, Renault also introduced the FL4WER POWER concept, a rugged off-road version inspired by the R4 Safari. This concept features a lifted suspension, off-road tires, and a unique flower-themed interior.
The Renault 4 E-Tech is expected to arrive in the UK market in mid-2025, offering a unique and practical electric vehicle option for European consumers.
