After months of anticipation fueled by camouflaged prototype sightings, Audi has officially revealed the updated Q7, signaling a significant facelift for the model rather than an entirely new iteration. The unveiling took place in Europe, with plans for deliveries to commence later this quarter.
The 2024 Audi Q7 represents a notable evolution from its predecessor, which debuted back in 2015. The most apparent change is seen in the front clip, featuring a revised version of Audi's iconic Singleframe grille. The grille maintains its substantial size, adorned with a thick surround and an octagon-themed pattern. The lower fascia introduces redesigned corner vents with a vertical orientation. While the LED headlights retain a familiar look, optional HD Matrix lights with laser technology and customizable features are available.
Audi introduces a groundbreaking feature with laser diodes incorporated into the headlights. These diodes, activated with high beams at speeds exceeding 43 mph, work in conjunction with 24 LEDs to significantly enhance the high beam range. The new Q7 also offers optional customization features for the daytime running lights, allowing drivers to choose from four lighting signatures. These updates extend to the LED taillights as well, though the availability of such features in North America remains uncertain due to regulatory considerations.
The base model receives several upgrades, including standard-contrast stitching, 19-inch wheels, the gloss package featuring aluminum roof rails, and a rearview camera with parking assist plus. Opting for additional features unlocks nine decorative inlays for the greenhouse. The exterior palette expands with three new colors – Ascari Blue, Sakhir Gold, and Chili Red – complemented by fresh wheel options ranging from 20 to 22 inches.
In the tech department, the 2024 Audi Q7 introduces third-party apps for the first time, allowing seamless integration of services like Spotify directly into the infotainment system. Enhanced driver-assist features include various warning displays in the virtual cockpit, covering aspects such as lane changes and distance warnings.
Powertrain options for European customers include a 3.0-liter diesel engine in two configurations, delivering 228 or 282 horsepower, a gas-powered V6 generating 335 hp, and a potent 500-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 for the performance-oriented SQ7 trim. The SQ7 variant distinguishes itself with additional black trim, oval exhaust tips, and a front chin spoiler, achieving a remarkable 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 4.1 seconds.
However, details regarding mechanical changes, pricing, and the delivery timeline for the United States market remain undisclosed. While European customers can purchase the new Q7 as a 2024 model with a starting price of 79,300 euros, the transition to the 2025 model year is expected once the vehicle reaches the United States. Audi enthusiasts on the American side of the Atlantic will have to await further information to discover the offerings tailored for them.
