The Royal Marines have been testing the American-made Polaris MRZR-D4 over the most difficult terrains to determine its value on the battlefield.
The Royal Marines have been putting the new vehicles through their paces at Braunton Burrows in North Devon, England. The Polaris MRZR-D4 is a lightweight 4x4 off-roader capable of transporting up to four commandos and reaching speeds of 96 kilometers per hour.
Using these lightweight vehicles, the troops will concentrate on how quickly they can reach the enemy. It may still be used to transport supplies and equipment such as ammunition, water, and gasoline for commando missions, among other things.
For further firepower, the turbocharged diesel truck may be outfitted with machine guns and grenade launchers.
When equipped with a weapon system, the MRZR may be utilized for quick attacks and distractions, as well as logistics replenishment and casualty evacuation. The vehicle may also be transported by CH-47 helicopters, allowing marines to be rapidly dropped down at their location alongside the off-roader.
The new light vehicle is currently being tested as commandos begin to operate in small groups of up to 12 individuals.
