Smart #5 Launches With an Affordable Price

The Smart #5, a five-seater all-electric SUV, has officially opened for pre-order as the brand’s largest model yet, with prices starting at 245,000 yuan (approximately 35,000 USD). The vehicle’s official launch is scheduled for the end of October. Its design is based on Mercedes-Benz’s “Sensual and Sharp” philosophy, offering a blend of elegance and sharpness in its aesthetic. For adventure enthusiasts, the SUV includes outdoor kits such as a roof laser searchlight, roof luggage racks, small side backpacks on both sides, and climbing ladders on the left and right. It boasts a towing capacity of 1.6 tons (1600 kg). Buyers can choose from eight exterior paint options, including Saturn Beige, Terra Green, Pulsar Ruby, Meta Black, Grain White, Cyber Silver, Laser Red, and Future Brown. The vehicle’s dimensions are 4705 mm in length, 1920 mm in width, and 1705 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2900 mm.

The interior is available in six color schemes, including Lightyear Brown and Quasar Olive, with wood elements integrated into the design for a premium feel. The Smart #5 is equipped with advanced technology, including a 13-inch 2.5K dual screen, a 25.6-inch AR-HUD, and a 10.3-inch LCD instrument panel powered by the AMD V2000 chip. It runs on the Smart OS 2.0 operating system and features a 20-speaker Sennheiser sound system. A detachable portable speaker adds versatility to the audio experience. The cockpit features an intelligent voice assistant named Leo. Inside, there are 34 storage spaces, along with a 72-liter front trunk and a 110-liter storage compartment beneath the main trunk. Notably, the Smart #5 is the first in the industry to feature a 233-inch automotive-grade full-color laser projector with a peak brightness of 2000 lumens and a resolution of 1080P.

For safety, the vehicle is equipped with the Smart Pilot Assist 3.0 advanced driving assistance system. Built on Geely’s SEA architecture, it supports an 800V electrical system and offers both single-motor and dual-motor versions. The single-motor version delivers 335 hp or 358 hp, depending on the model, using lithium iron phosphate or ternary lithium batteries, respectively. The dual-motor version comes in a standard trim with a maximum power of 579 hp or a Brabus performance trim, delivering 637 hp. The standard trim uses a 221 hp front motor and a 358 hp rear motor, while the Brabus trim upgrades the front motor to 165 kW and the rear motor to 416 hp. The Brabus trim accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.

Battery options include 76 kWh and 100 kWh capacities, with ranges of 570 km, 660 km, 670 km, 720 km, and 740 km. The Smart #5 also features 4C fast-charging technology, which can add 500 km of range in just 15 minutes, according to the company.
