Dealers were presented to the Jeep Recon and Wagoneer EVs during Stellantis' invite-only event in Las Vegas, among other vehicles.
Stellantis invited several dealers to a formal event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where it displayed its entire catalog of contemporary concepts and provided them with a seven-year product plan to help them prepare for a radically different future. The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT and Ram 1500 Revolution BEV ideas are among them, as was to be expected, but two hot Jeep concepts from the previous year, the Recon and Wagoneer S, may be of greater interest given how little we have seen of them thus far.
The Wagoneer S is aiming to compete with cars like the BMW iX. Although it is constructed on the STLA Large platform, its driving characteristics and design are tailored for urban environments.
Although Jeep hasn't provided any specifics about the battery or charging times, it has stated that the platform can support batteries up to 100 kWh and that the driving range is 644 km. Two electric motors in the concept vehicle were also said to be able to propel it to a top speed of 97 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and provide 600 horsepower to its four wheels.
The Wagoneer S is now only available in concept form, but it will go on sale in North America and Europe in 2024 after making its public premiere later this year.
Using front-wheel drive As the Jeep Avenger is unavailable in North America, it cannot possibly be the type of Jeep that can successfully traverse the Rubicon Trail. The new Recon checks all of those things while also having a boxy, rugged exterior.
We have been assured that the Recon is solely offered as an EV and is not intended to displace the Wrangler in the lineup. It will be equipped with real off-road goods including e-locker axle technology, Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management, chunky trail rubber, tow hooks, and underbody protection. It is based on the new Stellantis STLA Large EV platform.
As was already known, the RAM 1500 Revolution electric truck and the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT were among the other standouts during the dealer event. But the nearly extinct Chrysler brand also made an appearance to remind us that it will solely sell electric vehicles starting in 2028.
The 400 horsepower, dual-motor Airflow crossover was unveiled by the firm in concept form in 2022 as a competitor to the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y. Although it's a gorgeous car, the 563-644 km range seems reasonable until you realize the battery pack is a massive 118 kWh. We can't help but feel that this one will be outdated before it even arrives.
