The 2025 GWM Haval H6 range is set to hit showrooms around mid-July, bringing with it a significant refresh and, for the first time, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain option. This updated model comes with a starting price of $35,990 drive-away. It's worth noting that the entry-level Premium trim, previously available for $33,990 drive-away (or $30,990 during a run-out sale), has been discontinued, pushing up the starting cost for the Haval H6 by as much as $5,000.
Despite this increase in the baseline price, the remaining models in the 2025 lineup are actually between $1,000 and $2,000 less expensive than their standard, pre-facelift counterparts. However, compared to the recent "2024 plate clearance sale" special offers, these new prices represent an increase of $2,000 to $4,000. Overall, the facelifted 2025 Haval H6, GWM's mid-size family SUV, boasts a refreshed exterior design, an enhanced interior, a larger infotainment touchscreen, and more potent powertrains.
The previous Haval H6 offered a selection of four petrol-only and two hybrid variants. The new 2025 lineup streamlines this, providing two petrol-only grades, two hybrid options, and two plug-in hybrid variants. The latter, the PHEV, will exclusively be available on the top-tier Ultra flagship model.
Visually, the 2025 Haval H6 undergoes several notable changes. The front end receives a redesigned bumper and a reshaped grille, complemented by new vertical daytime-running lights. The wheel-arch cladding has been subtly tweaked with a black finish, and the entire range now features new 19-inch black alloy wheels. The use of chrome trim has been eliminated for a more contemporary look. At the rear, the vehicle features new, distinct LED tail-lights. The central 'HAVAL' badge has been replaced with prominent GWM branding, and the lower rear bumper has been revised.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard has been completely reconfigured. A larger 14.6-inch touchscreen now comes standard across all variants, a significant upgrade from the previous 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch displays. This new screen runs on updated software, which GWM claims benefits from increased processing power. Convenience features have been enhanced with the inclusion of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, although built-in satellite navigation is still absent. The gear selector has been relocated to the steering column, creating more space in the newly designed center console. This freed-up space now includes a dedicated wireless phone charger. Furthermore, the Ultra grade offers a new cream-colored upholstery option. Ergonomic improvements include the long-awaited addition of reach adjustment for the steering column, along with a thicker steering wheel rim featuring new indentations. The instrument cluster graphics have been updated, and the 360-degree camera system now incorporates a "transparent chassis" view, providing a more comprehensive perspective of the vehicle's surroundings.
Under the bonnet, the standard 2025 Haval H6 is powered by an upgraded 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which now produces 170kW and 380Nm of torque, an increase of 20kW and 50Nm respectively. This engine is paired with a new nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, replacing the previous seven-speed unit, and drives the front wheels. GWM states a fuel consumption figure of 7.4 litres per 100 kilometers for this petrol model, which remains unchanged from the outgoing version. The petrol all-wheel-drive option has been discontinued.
The hybrid powertrain carries over, combining a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine (110kW/230Nm) with a 130kW/300Nm electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission, resulting in a combined output of 179kW and 530Nm. This hybrid setup remains front-wheel drive.
The significant new addition for 2025 is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV). This variant utilizes a 1.5-liter petrol engine (a 110kW/240Nm version of the hybrid's engine) combined with electric motors to generate a combined 240kW and 540Nm. Power is stored in a 19.09kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing an impressive claimed electric-only driving range of 106km (based on NEDC lab testing). The total hybrid range is stated to be 1106km, with a claimed fuel consumption of just 1.0L/100km.
An all-wheel-drive option is available for the plug-in hybrid. This more potent configuration features a 110kW/240Nm engine, an 80kW/170Nm front electric motor, and a 150kW/350Nm rear motor, delivering a combined output of 268kW and 760Nm. GWM claims an electric-only driving range of 100km for the AWD PHEV in NEDC testing, with a slightly reduced hybrid range of 1043km. This powerful setup also allows for a swift 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.8 seconds using launch control. The PHEV technology, marketed as Hi4 by GWM, supports DC fast charging from 30 to 80 percent in 28 minutes at speeds up to 34kW. For home charging, AC charging from 15 to 100 percent is estimated to take "less than three hours" at up to 6.6kW.
The 2025 GWM Haval H6 is expected to be available in showrooms by the end of July.
