The long-awaited debut of the production-ready De Tomaso P72 has finally arrived, marking a significant milestone for the revived Italian automaker. This exclusive hypercar will be limited to a mere 72 units worldwide, with each commanding a substantial price tag of approximately €1.6 million.

The inaugural production model showcases a striking naked carbon fiber finish, though minor imperfections in the carbon fiber alignment between the front quarter panels and hood are noticeable. However, it's crucial to remember that this particular car is not destined for a customer. Its carbon fiber skin will soon be prepared for a custom paint job, and it will then be utilized for the final stages of rigorous dynamic validation. These crucial tests will ensure that the driving experience of the P72 truly embodies the legendary spirit and performance associated with the De Tomaso name.

At the core of the P72 lies an exquisitely crafted carbon fiber chassis, meticulously assembled by hand by a dedicated team of artisans. Chassis 001 also boasts an interior that is nothing short of breathtaking. While the exterior undeniably exudes captivating beauty, the interior takes center stage with its unparalleled elegance and refinement.

De Tomaso has meticulously integrated a set of seats that bear a striking resemblance to bespoke designer chairs one might encounter in a high-end furniture boutique, rather than the typical racing-inspired buckets found in most supercars. These seats are lavishly adorned with luxurious cream-colored leather, while a captivating copper-colored shifter with an exposed shifting mechanism elegantly punctuates the central console. The captivating copper accents extend to the six custom-made gauges that dominate the dashboard, creating a truly unique and visually stunning cockpit. De Tomaso aptly describes the P72's interior as inspired by the world of fine jewelry, a sentiment that resonates strongly upon experiencing its exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Powering this extraordinary machine is a potent 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, unleashing an impressive 750 horsepower and a staggering 900 Nm of torque. This formidable power is channeled exclusively to the rear wheels, promising an exhilarating and spine-tingling driving experience.

Concurrently with the final stages of P72 development, De Tomaso continues to make significant strides with its track-focused sibling, the P900. This extreme performance machine, deeply rooted in the P72's DNA, boasts even more aggressive aerodynamic enhancements designed to maximize downforce and optimize track performance. The P900 will be offered with a choice of two highly potent engines: a high-revving, naturally aspirated V12 engine, and a unique V10 powerplant sourced from a 1997 Benetton B197 Formula 1 single-seater, ensuring an unparalleled driving experience on the track.
